Want to catch my attention? Hit me with this headline: “Garth Brooks is a Serial Killer.” WHAT?! As I’m shaking my head and laughing, I think, “This is exactly how Garth first reacted to seeing this.” Then, once the stunningly stupid sheep that populate the social media world started to perpetuate this ludicrous notion, his next thoughts had to have been ones of panic and frustration. How can you bring yourself to deny something that is so preposterous that it doesn’t even deserve a denial?

What started out as a throwaway joke from comedian Tom Segura has become a laughable notion for everyone but Garth Brooks. In his special, “Sledgehammer,” Segura talks about his “theory.” “Where are the bodies, G?” If you’ve been to a Garth concert, chances are you’ve seen a sign or two like this and wondered, “WTH?” Apparently, Segura has found a curious connection between the country music legend’s tour dates and people who have gone missing in those places. Understandably, Garth has refused to address it.

This is where I think Garth should pivot. I don’t know who he’s listening to or who’s advice he’s taking (if any at all), but instead of remaining mum, instead of blocking Segura on social media (he has), Garth Brooks should lean into the gag. Wanna make it go away? Walk onstage at a Tom Segura show dressed as “Michael Myers” from the “Halloween” movies. Have a phony knife in your hands the size of Texas. Walk slowly towards him, then rip off the mask revealing that you’re Garth Brooks. Share a laugh with Segura. He then has to admit that the whole thing is a joke that’s gotten out of hand, and boom it’s over.

However, keep reacting as he is, and “Garth Brooks is a Serial Killer” is never gonna stop. Just sayin’.

Comedian @TomSegura wants to know where the bodies are, Garth Brooks: "Some very savvy detectives online have managed to point out the dots between these people who have gone missing and his tour dates..." https://t.co/KiRzaPnFPa
