Emergency services are at the scene of a serious collision on a main road in Salford this evening. The crash, reportedly involving a pedestrian, has caused police and paramedics to block Cromwell Road (A576) in both directions.
Fire crews are also on scene with a large sheet erected at the nearby junction with Langley Road South and Broughton Road, which are also blocked off. It is understood the person has since died following the major crash.
Witnesses living nearby to the scene told the Manchester Evening News they believe a truck was involved in the collision, at around 4pm today. No details have yet been confirmed by the emergency services.
Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been approached for further details on the ongoing incident.

A 'cyclist' was killed after reportedly being 'struck by a lorry' on a main road in Salford on Thursday (May 16). Police, paramedics and fire crews descended on Cromwell Road after the major collision, at the junction with Langley Road South at around 4pm.
The Manchester Evening News understands that the person, thought to have been riding a bike at the time, was hit by the lorry at the junction of the busy main road - and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A person has died after reportedly being hit by a heavy goods vehicle along Cromwell Road this afternoon, it is understood.
A large cordon remains in place, with dignity screens erected at the scene, at the junction with Langley Road South.
The M.E.N understands the person, whose age and gender have not been confirmed, was hit by the lorry at around 4pm.
Police, paramedics and fire crews have remained on the scene since with the road taped off in both directions. A private ambulance also arrived at the scene at around 7.30pm.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are currently leading the investigation.
Greater Manchester Police have not yet provided a full comment on the incident.
