What is the plot of the movie Enough? ›

Working-class waitress Slim (Jennifer Lopez) finds her life transformed when she marries wealthy contractor Mitch (Billy Campbell). She settles into an idyllic suburban life and seems to have everything she wants. Her dream is shattered when she discovers her husband is anything but perfect. His abusive behavior forces her to go on the run, eluding an increasingly obsessive Mitch and his lethal henchman.

When he arrives they fight and Slim beats Mitch unconscious before she eventually knocks him off a balcony to his death. The police regard her actions as self-defense. Slim and Gracie reunite and go to live with Joe in Seattle.

Women who endure abuse are encouraged to get out of the situation. Granted, Enough portrays an extreme example of murderous obsession, but Slim's first response to her husband's abuse is to leave and seek help, and that's good. In this case, Slim's friends rise to the occasion, even risking their own lives to help her.

Audience Reviews

Though some developments and scenes in Enough are blown up to the level of melodrama, and most characters are written more as simple archetypes than real people, I found this film to be a surprisingly enjoyable ride. Until, that is, it came off the rails with an ending that had me rolling my eyes.
