The Umatilla County Jail, a 252-bed facility, enables the Jail staff the opportunity to maintain a balance between protecting the public and providing an environment that safeguards the life, health, and safety of staff and inmates.
The jail currently has 32 full-time staff who work 12-hour shifts and 19 support staff. The annual intake and release average is 4,383 inmates.

To see the current inmates in Umatilla County Jail, you can search for him or her in the Umatilla County Jail Roster. You can search the inmate locator, or you can search the crime graphics using the inmate’s first and last name.

Sending a Mail

All mail sent to an inmate at the Umatilla County Jail Information must include the sender's name and mailing address in the top left corner of the envelope or postcard.
Failure to include your return address will most likely result in your mail NOT being delivered and your letter destroyed.
Sending Money
Family and friends can send money to inmates in the following ways:
- Bring money to the jail.
Jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment.
- Make a deposit over the phone
Umatilla County Jail will accept deposits over the phone with a debit or credit card. To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
- Send money to the jail
Always send a money order, never cash. Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
Phone Calls
Umatilla County Jail’s inmate phone system is provided byTelmate.Only inmates may call out. They may not receive incoming calls.
However, the inmates are allowed to receive messages (voicemails) from family and friends. To leave a voicemail for an inmate, call1-866-516-0115and follow the prompts. The message limit is three minutes, and leaving voicemails costs the caller $1.25.
To call you, an inmate simply dials your phone number. When receiving a call, you should first hear an announcement from an automated operating, such as “You are receiving a call from[inmate name], an inmate atUmatilla County Jail. Press one (1) to accept.”
If the inmate has no calling funds, and is calling you for the first time, the call will be free for a brief period of time (less than a minute). This is to allow the inmate to inform you of where he or she is, and to explain how calls work from this jail. After this short call, the inmate will be placed on hold and you will be presented to opportunity to:
- Pay (via credit card) to continue the current call.
- Deposit funds for the inmate to continue your call and, if there is money remaining, the inmate may use the funds to make future calls to any number.
Deposit funds to your own phone number to continue your call and, if there is money remaining, the inmate may use the funds to call your number in the future, but the funds will not be available for calling other numbers.
Visiting Rules
The Umatilla County Correctional Facility encourages productive relationships between families and inmates and sees inmate visitation as a positive means to strengthen ties and increase the likelihood of success upon release.
Visiting days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, excluding all holidays.
Visits may be scheduled up to one week in advance and must be scheduled with the Jail Reception office during regular business hours.
